    Rod Machado’s Private Pilot Handbook is great. I’ve also used the King Schools training for my private pilot training.

    There’s also the Gleim (red) book (Private Pilot) which is very helpful!.

    I’m now an adv. ground instructor so if you have questions, I’d be happy to help.

    look on the FAA Website for all of their publications…it actually helps if you incorporate it in your training.

    You can find everything you need here:
    Sportys is a major pilot shop type website – anything aviation is there , and that have tons of books, dvds, etc… on flight training.
    Hope this helps and good luck with your training!

    Here is what I recommend.

    Gleim’s Complete Private Pilot Kit is designed to help expedite training for the private pilot certificate. We offer a complete training program at a price you can afford. We prepare user-friendly self-study materials that are carefully designed to make it easy for you to learn and understand.

    Product Features:

    * Interactive online ground school
    * Contains everything you need (except airplane and instructor)
    * Offers an all-in-one package at an affordable price
    * Save money by purchasing all required materials together

    Add to that some publications that the FAA puts out

    Aero books and John King books and recordings are good. Libraries have videos to check out and flight schools at the local airfields offer books, sometimes only to flight students, but generally to the public, also.

    I’ve been flying for over 20 years and Sporty’s courses are by far the best. Other courses like Gliem and King are designed to help you pass the written test. Sporty’s contain information you need to actually be a better, more knowledgeable pilot.
