Forest Gump
Apocalypse Now – Showed US soldiers as drug using, demoralized, worthless thugs.
We Were Soldiers – Showed US soldiers (and their enemy as well) as competent professionals who had a hard job and did it to the best of their ability with courage and honor.
Conservative producers and directors make fairly accurate war movies, while libs are anti-American anti-military and paint our soldiers in a very bad light….typical.
Remember Films are made to separate the green-backs from the public’s hand, 95% of them are not 100% accurate but rely on a loosely based upon by-line they are moulded to provide entertainment for the public and not reflect the true character of either the soldier or warfare.
Best movies about Vietnam:
Hamburger Hill (the battle for a hill in Vietnam)
the Killing Fields (immediate post war Cambodia).
These have to be kept separate from movies made with a definite political motive in mind depending on the producer
(think of Kubrik here)
WW2.
Das Boot (The Boat) German production about life on a German submarine in WW2.
Saving Private Ryan. (Reflects the daily life of a US Soldier in Europe from the point of D-Day!).
The rest I rate as entertainment.
