in modern action films the female counter-part to the (usually) male main character are usually quite very pretty but also very able to inflict damage to the bad guys, martial arts abilities, expert driving, etc etc.
of course the male main character will always do a slightly better job and probably end up having to help the female out of a sticky situation at some point. maybe after she has helped him out of one at the beginning of the film.
Women in action films are usually represented as ‘damsel in distress’. It’s sort of annoying since there are a lot of tough ****** out there.
