How about Twilight by Stephenie Meyer? it might be a bit older than your age but who cares? I read it and I’m even younger than you…. Twilight is really really really good. I love it. I think it the BEST BOOK EVER!!!Try it, it’ll be good..
Laura Ingalls Wilder books. *Excellent* description of 1800s pioneering life through the eyes of a young girl. Sounds like they’re right up your alley. Little House in the Big Woods is the first, I think. There’s a whole series.
Twilight is NOT older than your age, and yes it is an amazing book. Its sequel is New Moon and the third part is called Eclipse, though you may have trouble getting Eclipse from the library as its just come out, about a month ago, and there will probably be a long waiting list. The series (and yes there are more of these books to come) is basically about a human and a vampire falling in love.
I’m not into Meg Cabot or those types of books at all, but I’ll tell you some you may like:
A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray is a fantasy and has a sequel called Rebel Angels (I haven’t read the sequel yet, though).
Sarah Dessen is a good author to look at, I especially liked The Truth About Forever. She’s sort of a chic lit author, but not as heavy, I guess, as Meg Cabot.
TTYL and its sequels by Lauren Myracle are ones you may like, but they’re sort of for a more mature audience because of some things that are mentioned and the way they talk. But I doubt you couldn’t handle it.
Maybe the Sisterhood series by Ann Brashares would be something you’d like.
Caught in the Act by Peter Moore was an okay book, too.
Kevin Brooks has some good stuff, but it’s not exactly ***** lit.
If I Have A Wicked Stepmother, Where’s My Prince? by Melissa Kantor is a retelling of Cinderella set in a high school, so it’s one of those ‘loner climbs the social ladder’ books. And I know it has an insanely long name, I’ve always just called it Where’s My Prince? to save my breath.
Saving Fransesca by Melina Marchetta was a good book.
That’s really all of the ***** lit and other books close to Meg Cabot that I’ve read, and it’s really not many, so sorry if it hasn’t helped, since I think you may have already read most of them.
Maybe some different genres you want to look at:
Fantasy authors: JK Rowling, Stephenie Meyer (wrote Twilight and co.), Chris Wooding, Christopher Paolini, Melissa De La Cruz, Donna Jo Napoli (one of my favorite authors), Tamora Pierce (wrote two of my favorite books which I’d highly suggest reading; Trickster’s Choice and the sequel Trickster’s Queen), Eoin Colfer (his Artemis Fowl series is fantasy and science fiction combined, and very good), Amelia Atwater-Rhodes (I especially like her book, Hawksong though not its sequels as much).
Historical Fiction: KM Grant (I’m working on The DeGranville Trilogy which starts with The Blood Red Horse and takes place during the Crusades), Donna Jo Napoli (she’s both fantasy and hist. fic.).
Science Fiction (and it’s not always about space ships and futuristic weapons): Lois Lowry (she also has some hist. fic. books and such), Eoin Colfer (also fantasy, like I said), Jeanne DuPrau, David Stahler, Jr. (If you like The Giver plus sequels by Lois Lowry, you may like Truesight by him).
I know I’ve given you a ton, but I know the frustrations of going to the library and not knowing what to look for. So I hope this helps.
Why not read some star wars books? Or some books by Ursala K. Leguin, one of my favorite authors. If you like epics you could read Lord Of The Rings by J.R.R Tolkien. Sure the books are long, but they are worth reading. If you are more into teen fiction then try Nancy Drew. They are classic, and I always love reading them. For more fantasy you could try Eragon by Christopher Paolini. He was a teenager when he wrote Eragon. And if you like Eragon you could try reading the sequel, Eldest.
I love reading books!! Some of my favourite authors are; Phillip Pullman, Lian Hearn, Tamara Pierce, J.K. Rowling, Libba Bray …. and the author of New Moon and Twighlight. Those two are definitly great books to read!!! Most of these books are in the fantasy chatagory. If you prefer history books, Mary Bloody Mary was a good read. For non-fictional reads, I enjoyed The Golden Spruce and Into Thin Air. If you hear of any other good books, please let me know! I’m always on the look-out for the best reads! Bookstores are the best kinds of stores in my opinion!!! Thanx for your question!
How about Nancy Drew series, or the sisterhood of traveling pants. They are great books for your age.

Why you don’t buy them?
