sounds like you can offer a lot lol do you travel to ontario?….where i’m from people charge between 20 and 60…but you offer a lot more than most people do….you should be getting a lot more however sticking to 20-60/hr makes you a little money and is still affordable to most

If you have a teaching certificate, you can charge more. I don’t think you can advertise yourself as a teacher if not. Be very careful. You need to be vetted to work with youngsters.

If you really want to make it available for all, I’d say £15 per hour is a reasonable amount that doesn’t rule out those on a lower income. These people could have the most talent, but be unable to realise it due to cost, and that would be a shame. You would still make a good living at this rate, and will probably be busier.

don’t know, like first person said ask around or just see how many people are interested then go with what you think, i plan to teach myself how to play the guitar next year

From my experience, $25 for an hour is pretty standard – it is at two music schools my son went to anyway.
If you want to make a living at it you can’t give it way. Plus the school will keep half of that and then you have to pay taxes.

in maidstone kent, they charge £20 pound an hour and as that is £80 pound a month it works out at quite a bit but what can you do if everyone is charging the same?

Depends on where you live £15 to £50 is about the going rate. Make sure you have insurance and are police checked. My daughter keeps her fees on the lowest scale to allow everyone access to the lessons. One thing which does annoy me is people don’t turn up and don’t let her know. I keep telling her to charge monthly then if they don’t turn up they lose their money, but she won’t because she says they probably don’t turn up because they are broke that week.
