I want a book that really interesting. I just read collapse, by jared diamond, and could not stand another page of it. I am looking more into the evolution topic, because that seems to be the most interesting. I don’t have alot of spare time, so short is good (hopefully not longer than 300 pages, but at least 100)

Anyways, please recommend any good books on evolution, greek mythology, or religion. I have already read the odyssey and illiad by the way.

David McCullough John Adams: Best Review!

I wasn’t extremely fired up about John Adams by McCullough when it very first came out. I’d noticed the rave evaluations, but on the time I had just completed an additional John Adams biography by John Ferling. My appetite for Adams was sufficiently satiated. Earlier this year, nevertheless, I caught McCullough on CSPAN Ebook Notes, offering a speech about his numerous books, and I had been enthralled. The man can notify a very good story. To understand David McCullough would be to read John Adams. No other book will ever provide the reader as close to great old John as this one.

If I had just one complaint about the publication – there may be usually a minimum of a single – it would be that McCullough looks a touch too fast to justify (or worse, apologize) for particular unsavory aspects of John Adams’ personality and career. Adams was much from excellent. He was extremely vain, quick to temper, and he generally produced extremely bad decisions – to wit, the Alien and Sedition Acts. In every instance, when relating an Adams snafu, McCullough acknowledges the mistake, but too generally continues with “… nonetheless it creates perception if you consider…” But for a lot of such instances, there need to be no “buts”. The Sedition Functions were certainly unconstitutional. Adams’ temper and frequent outbursts did get him into serious difficulty on various occasions, frequently for the detriment of his career.

You will discover no explanations needed to erase away these flaws – Adams was human, such as the rest of us, and he created his mistakes.
